Release notes for 0.6 Beta 3
  • Fixed an issue when importing users preventing them to be imported correctly
  • Fixed an issue when importing pages, preventing the importing of pages with OpenAccess exceptions
  • External pages are now migrated, since SF 4.1 supports external pages
  • Lists are now migrated, since SF 4.1 supports lists
  • A couple more controls are migrated including: TaxonomyControl, ListView, SubscribeForm, SearchBox and System.Web.UI.WebControls.HyperLink. The controls settings are not yet completely transferred.

  • Fixed issues with content items preventing the migration tool to import them properly in multilanguage mode
  • Added a checkbox to control whether to add a ContentBlock in the place of unsupported or controls with errors
  • Added a checkbox to control whether to rewrite <%@Master%>, <%@Control%> and <%@Register%> tags for user controls and master pages to prevent potential errors
  • Existing themes will not be removed from the Appearance configuration during the migration process
  • Added support for Sitefinity 3.7 prior to SP3. If you want to build against an older version of Sitefinity 3.7 go to the MigrationExportService project properties -> Build -> Conditional compilation symbols and add VERSION_BELOW_SP3

  • Users are transferred one by one allowing large quantities of users to be transferred

Release notes for 0.5 Beta1
  • Ascx controls used in page/template placeholders are now transfered with their code-behind files
  • Theme import was rewritten using native API instead of low-level XML writing
  • Added default permissions for libraries and template/page controls (still there is sometimes an issue with SF 4.0 where some controls don't receive the correct permissions)
  • The Home page from the 3.7 site is correctly flagged as Home page in the 4.0 site
  • News, Blogs, Events, Generic contents and Pages now have valid URLs after migration
  • Numerous smaller bug fixes
  • The link to the migration tool was moved from the top level menu bar (near Analytics) to the Content drop down menu

Release notes for 0.4 Alpha
  • Nested master pages are now migrated;
  • When a specific page/template control cannot be migrated a generic content block is created on its place with the reason why it can't be added;
  • User controls in master pages are transferred with their code behind files;
  • "Safe" user controls that compile without errors after being copied to the new project should be included in the master pages, the others are commented;
  • External pages (not supported in 4.0) are now replaced with group pages;
  • The parent page is now correctly set for Group pages;
  • Libraries other than Image, Document or Video are imported as Document libraries;
  • Other small bug fixes and UI improvements.

Release notes for 0.3 Alpha

Changes in the 3.7 part:
  • Generic contents, News, Blogs, Events, Libraries and Pages are now exported one by one. There are new methods that return a list of all contents GUIDs that may be used to retrieve these content items one by one;
  • Split the source into modules for better readability;
  • All content capable of multilanguage support now set their appropriate Language property, indicating the language code.

Changes in the 4.0 part:
  • A log file is created on every import and is located at ~/App_Data/Sitefinity/Logs/Migration.log.htm;
  • Implemented real-time log that reads this file and displays it during the migration process;
  • Implemented multilanguage import for Generic contents, News, Blogs, Events and Pages;
  • Comments are now properly imported;
  • More robust check for existing items, especially for libraries;
  • Improved log
